Confidentiality
What is shared in the group stays in the group. This helps everyone feel safe to express themselves. The session will not be recorded.

No judgement
Each person’s experience is unique, and all feelings are valid. Environmental issues can be complex and controversial but this is not a space for debate.

Active Listening
We listen to each other with full attention and without interrupting, allowing everyone to be heard, including the quiet voices.

Compassionate Honesty
Speaking as truthfully as we can, but doing so with kindness, and being open to hearing others’ truths as well.

Respect for Silence
Silence can communicate so much and can also be restful and healing. Don’t be afraid of silence. It’s okay to take your time, to pause, it’s OK not to speak. You don’t have to fill the silence. You don’t have to say or share anything.

No Fixing or Advice
We’re here to listen and support, not to offer solutions or calls to action. Oftentimes just being heard is the most healing thing.

Self Awareness and Care
Listen to yourself and be aware of your own needs. It’s okay to take a break if you need to.

Zoom / video considerations
If you can, please keep your camera on and (except when you’re sharing) your microphone on mute. Sometimes you may need to switch off the camera for personal or technical reasons – it’s helpful if you can write a little message in the chat to tell us you are switching off, for example because your internet is flaky.

As these are very calm and respectful spaces, it’s usually enough to unmute and begin speaking when you want to share, but if you have any anxiety about starting, just use the “raise hand” tool on Zoom or send a message in chat. I will then introduce you when appropriate.
